Austin, TX (June 27, 2016) – In another example of Hayes Software Systems’ rapid growth, the company has added John Mellios as Director of Client Services to continue to build their consulting services department. With over 15 years of K-12 experience, Mellios understands the unique needs of school districts and the challenges they face every day. He has been employed by large urban districts such as Chicago Public Schools, Oakland Unified School District, Prince George’s County Public Schools, and Baltimore City Public Schools.
At Hayes, Mellios will work with K-12 education customers of all sizes to understand their needs, goals, processes, and pain points to ensure clients have adopted sustainable inventory management programs.

As the Director of Educational Technology and Tools at Chicago Public Schools, Mellios was responsible for the departments of libraries, instructional materials, and educational technology for the third largest school district in the nation. While there, he managed successful, high profile enterprise-wide projects, vetted and selected online learning programs, and leveraged print and digital content for over 500 schools to support the district’s curriculum. Most recently he was the Director of Data and Compliance at KIPP Austin Public Schools where he managed all student data and state and federal reporting. He has also consulted with the Stupski Foundation and the Fund for Educational Excellence, supporting districts across Maryland around educational technology, data reporting, and assessment.
