What does HB 396 mean for your district?

Great news, Texas!

Effective September 1st, 2019, HB 396 allows school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to use funds allotted from the instructional materials and technology fund to purchase inventory software or systems for storing and accessing instructional materials.

What does this mean for your district?

House Bill 396 expands the use of the state instructional materials and technology fund. The legislation now allows Texas school districts to use Technology and Instructional Materials Allotment (TIMA) funds to purchase inventory software to manage assets and instructional material throughout their entire life cycle, enabling administrators to make confident data-driven decisions about the use of those materials. Your district can identify enrollment needs, account for losses, and manage purchases in a cost-effective way.

TIMA can be used to upgrade your inventory management system or pay for ongoing yearly maintenance. Allocate these funds to purchase and maintain a software designed specifically for K-12 administrators to track assets; saving time, money, and resources. Districts of all sizes can use these funds to purchase asset management software to benefit each campus across every department. By increasing accountability and automating the tracking of funds used to purchase assets and materials, your district benefits from using these funds to purchase or maintain software like TIPWeb-IT or TIPWeb-IM.
