Teri Martucci, Communication Specialist in the Technology Departments at Little Egg Harbor School District and Pinelands Regional School District has a lot of projects to complete in a typical summer. Most summers are busy with special projects in preparation for the upcoming school year, but the 2020 summer has been anything but “typical.”
Five districts in New Jersey decided to utilize grant money, which was allocated specifically for cleaning devices, to purchase sanitization services through Hayes Software Services. Tuckerton Elementary School, Eagleswood Elementary School, Pinelands Regional School District, Bass River Township School District, and Little Egg Harbor School District all joined forces to complete the sanitization project.
Before COVID-19 changed the way that districts are opening schools, summer projects were already busy. In the summer of 2019, Teri’s team hired extra summer help for standard cleaning of the district’s Chromebooks, and it took a month. With COVID-19 at the forefront, normal summer projects felt overwhelming and additional support was required for staff across multiple schools.
As districts like these five look ahead to the 2020-21 academic school year, they face the ongoing threat of COVID-19 circulating in their communities. Teri and her team felt it crucial for the local schools to develop and implement policies, practices, and strategies that optimize learning as well as health and safety procedures to support student and faculty safety.
That is why schools like Teri’s are choosing to support their staff and students with sanitization solutions. Hayes Software Systems has partnered with Xclusive Janitorial Services to provide comprehensive services and resources to districts facing similar challenges.
“Everybody else’s tech department is just as busy as we are in the summer, especially this summer,” says Teri. “Every summer seems to get busier, but this summer has been especially unpredictable. Having sanitization done for us took a huge weight off our shoulders. If anyone is considering having devices sanitize, they should definitely do it. Firstly, it saved us so much time. Secondly, it provides so much peace of mind when we want to keep everyone from getting sick.”
The need for schools to disinfect buildings and devices is precisely why Hayes partnered with industry-leading sanitization experts at Xclusive Janitorial Services. Hayes provides full building sanitization, sanitization of high touch areas, bus sanitization, mobile device sanitization, and emergency COVID-19 responses.
Little Egg Harbor, along with four neighboring school districts, assembled their devices, and the on-site sanitization team got to work. The team first cleaned cords, cases, carts, and Chromebook with an air compressor, wiped down, sanitized, and disinfected everything, and it was so efficient.” says Teri, “We’d originally planned for two days at our district, and they finished in one. They also cleaned their entire workspace when they were before they began and when they were finished, sanitizing every surface until it was completely spotless.“
In just three days, the on-site sanitization cleaned 1699 devices across five neighboring districts. “They had it down to a science,” says Teri. “They essentially had an assembly line, I could tell the team had a sense of comradery, and they finished the job quickly in a really great working environment. I was blown away.”
